Amelia's actions
Health
Support Pollution Reduction
I will spend at least 30 minutes learning about water and air quality issues in my area, how they are impacting human and environmental health, and how I can help.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Cheap, single-use items and disposable packaging end up blowing around as litter more often in poor and POC-majority neighborhoods. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.

What can lack of access to nutritious food affect a community? How can having access to nutritious food help a community become more resilient?

Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 30-minute walk outside each day.
Nature
Spend Time Outside

Choose Organic Ingredients
I will enjoy 2 meal(s) cooked with organic ingredients each day.

Energy
Choose LED Bulbs
I will replace 1 incandescent lightbulb(s) with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 60 minute(s) each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Practice Gratitude for EarthKathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?
Amelia Fitch 4/19/2022 8:14 AMI've learned that engaging with the earth is such an important part of practicing gratitude for the earth. I learned over the years how hard it can be to prioritize being outdoors and slowing down to be grateful for my environment. I've written a lot of coursework on the importance of nature therapy and I'm learning to practice what I preach more by prioritizing an interconnected engagement with the earth every day whether it is through meditating on the grass, grounding barefoot, or just pausing to watch my surroundings. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Learn More about Food ApartheidWhat can lack of access to nutritious food affect a community? How can having access to nutritious food help a community become more resilient?
Amelia Fitch 4/07/2022 10:32 AMI encourage everyone to learn more about food apartheid and food sovereignty even if it is not one of your one-time actions. It is also so important we encourage others to use "food apartheid" as a replacement for “food desert” since using "food dessert' is misleading from the actual reasons and causes of why so many communities, especially POC communities, lack access to healthy food. -
