Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

If I am in a store like Sam's Club, I take the items from my cart and put them directly in my car. If I am in a store like Target or a grocery store, if possible I opt not to bag my items and carry them out. If I do take a plastic bag from a store, I add the plastic bag to a collection in my house and I re-use grocery bags in my smaller trash cans that I have in various rooms (bathrooms, home office, basement, etc.)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Eliminate Toxic Plastics
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I consistently do this daily by using both a YETI coffee cup and a YETI water bottle every day. I have also started using reusable straws in any drinks that I order to go and not opting to use a straw when I eat at restaurants. I also use reusable grocery bags.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Simplicity Go For A Daily Walk Outside
Fresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?

Taking a walk each day, especially during lunch breaks, helps break up the day and keeps me focused throughout the afternoon. I also enjoy walking my dog because I know it helps him stay healthy.
